Winter Doubles 2026-2027: FAQ
Back to Full Rules and Regulations
What's the membership deadline? All players must have active one-year MTG membership as of December 31, 2026. Failure to meet this requirement results in removal from the league, with a full refund issued. You can renew in advance by logging into your MTG profile and renewing your membership there.
I registered, and my partner is on the waitlist. Can we still play together? Not automatically — both players must be registered and off the waitlist to play as a team. If one of you is on the waitlist, the WDL coordinator will contact you to discuss options.
I registered without a specific partner and got matched with someone I don't know. Can I decline the match or request someone else? Contact the WDL coordinator for options before the refund deadline.
Are my requested blackout dates guaranteed? No. You can request up to 3 dates during registration, and MTG will do its best to honor them, but they are not guaranteed. If your blackout dates can't be accommodated, the WDL coordinator will reach out to discuss options before finalizing your schedule.
How do I request a reschedule? Contact your opponents yourself via the Member Directory to find a mutually available date, time, and court. Once all four players agree, notify the WDL Coordinator via the WDL Reschedule Request Form by 6pm the Thursday before your originally scheduled match. The rescheduled match must be completed by 4/25/27. If you haven't been able to arrange an alternate date yet by that deadline, submit the form anyway without alternate dates — this lets the coordinator know a reschedule is needed even before one is arranged.
What if the coordinator isn't notified by the Thursday 6pm deadline? The match is recorded as a 3-0, 3-0 loss for the team that needed the reschedule.
What if we can't agree on an alternate date with our opponents? The match is recorded as a default loss for the requesting team. If all four players made a good-faith effort to resolve it, this won't count against future league eligibility under the no-show policy. The WDL Coordinator makes the final call on close cases.
Can we use our own court, or does MTG have to be involved? You arrange your own court and time with your opponents — MTG doesn't schedule or provide it, unless you choose to use a Post-Season Make-Up Court instead (see rules and regulations for details on the make-up courts).
What if the original court/time slot goes unused because we rescheduled? Once a court is scheduled, it's yours to use — the originally scheduled players may use it for non-league play. If you invite someone who wasn't originally scheduled for WDL, you must notify the WDL coordinator by 12pm the day of the match with that guest's name and email, or they may be denied entry to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
How much do Post-Season Make-Up Courts cost, and how do I book one? They're offered at face value. Contact the WDL coordinator to submit your request at least 5 days before your desired match date; once the coordinator confirms availability, you have 48 hours to pay, or the court goes to the next team in the queue. No refunds once a purchase is confirmed. These courts run Sunday evenings from 4/4/27 to 4/25/27.
I know in advance I can't make a match and won't be rescheduling — what do I do? Notify your partner, your opponents, and the WDL coordinator as soon as you know. The match is still recorded as a standard 3-0, 3-0 default loss, but advance notice lets your opponents plan and lets the court be used or offered to someone else. It also lets your opponents decide whether it's worth coming at all.
Does a no-show affect anything beyond the match result? A no-show with no communication to the WDL coordinator is treated differently and may affect your eligibility for future WDL seasons. MTG's general no-show policy also applies on top of this WDL-specific one.
How are ties broken? See Determining Order of Finish in the full rules
Can I get a one-time substitute for a single match if I can't make it? No — one-time substitutes are not allowed in matches that count toward standings. Only a full seasonal substitute is permitted if a player leaves the season entirely, and that substitute must be of comparable playing level to ensure fair competition within the division.
What's the deadline to withdraw and get a refund? Refund requests are accepted until October 20, 2026. After that, refunds are only granted if a full-season substitute is found without changing the schedule; once the season starts, refunds are considered case-by-case.
