The Courts & Events Director shall be responsible for planning all on-court MTG events including, but not limited to, the Winter Doubles League, Monthly Playing Parties, and the Summer Ladder. The Courts & Events Director is also responsible for communicating directly with tennis clubs and tennis facilities where MTG events are held and for developing new playing opportunities with new tennis venues.
Why did you join the board, and what are you looking to accomplish for MTG?
This is actually a return to the Board for me. I first joined MTG in the late 90s and then served as its Treasurer for the next 18 years as well as serving as Commissioner for the last 4 years. From the moment I first joined MTG, I felt a connection, and it is where I found my voice. That was why I wanted to be more involved so I could give something back. I encourage all members to consider volunteering in some capacity. Not everyone can make a long-term commitment, but we often need help with a single event or project. When I was asked to rejoin the Board as Courts and Events Director, it was hard to say no as MTG holds such a special place in my heart.
I am looking forward
to hopefully having events practically every week for various levels, enhancing the social component to the NTC doubles
parties, and promoting tennis through events that
support charitable LGBTQ causes.
