NEW YORK, NY - July 6, 2026 — Sun, sweat, red clay, hard courts, and a whole lot of pride. Metropolitan Tennis Group members made the journey to Valencia, Spain for the 2026 Gay Games, returning home with 10 medals and countless memories from one of the most meaningful events in LGBTQ+ sport. This year's Gay Games marked a historic milestone as the first ever held in Spain and the Mediterranean region. More than 10,200 athletes from 81 countries gathered for eight days of competition across 37 sports, transforming Valencia into a global celebration of sport, inclusion, and community. On the tennis courts, MTG players battled through soaring summer temperatures while competing across multiple venues on both red clay and hard courts. Every match was a reminder that the Gay Games are about more than medals—they're about representing your community, forging friendships across continents, and celebrating the joy of sport. 🥉 Bronze
Of course, the medal count tells only part of the story. Throughout the week, MTG members cheered each other on, explored Valencia together, reunited with friends from around the world, and welcomed new ones into the community. That's the magic of the Gay Games—and it's why so many athletes return every four years. Congratulations to all of our competitors for representing MTG with talent, resilience, and heart. We're incredibly proud of everyone who wore the MTG colors in Valencia and can't wait to see where the next journey takes us. Related |
