Hi MTG Family!
As things warm up, it’s time for the outdoor tennis season to begin in earnest and for us to kick off the MTG Summer Ladder! The Summer Ladder is a flexible way for members to meet new hitting partners while bringing as much as your competitive spirit as you’d like! So, it’s time to dust off that racquet, buy that park’s pass, and hit the courts.
This year's the Summer Ladder runs from Friday, May 3, 2024 to Monday, September 2, 2024. Registrants arrange their own matches with the first 3 each week counting towards playoff scores. The playing week begins on a Sunday and ends on the following Saturday. At the end of the summer, a playoff will determine the 2024 Summer Ladder champion.
There is a $10 registration fee. Following receipt of your fees, you will be sent a welcome message with the official rules and a link for joining the GTN Network, the ladder software program where your will record your match scores.
You must be a current active MTG member to play the 2024 Summer Ladder.
If you have any questions please contact Kevin Ko at mtgsummerladder@gmail.com.
I will also maintain a WhatsApp group to make it easier to arrange matches. Indicate in registration if you’d like to join.
We will have two ladders
Intermediate -> Advanced
(In NRTP Ratings, this is 3.5+)
Beginner
(3.0 and below)
We will place everyone according to their self rating in their MTG profile.
If you are not sure which one to join, take a look at these official USTA videos to assess your level.

3.0 video
If you are still not sure, please reach out and I’ll help you determine your level.
When you register for the ladder, please look for a subsequent e-mail that invites you to join the Global Tennis Network (“GTN”), the software program that we employ to tally the scores and rankings. There is no additional cost to join that network, but you must join GTN in order to partake in the ladder competition. (If you have played the ladder before, there is no need to re-register.)
Registration and enrollment for the ladder is a "rolling admissions" process. The competition begins on Friday, May 3, 2024 but you can join after that date at any point during the summer. May 3rd is a "commencement date"...not a deadline or cutoff for registration.
MTG is pleased to bring back tennis events for 4.0+ players. Please join us on the indoor har-tru courts of Roosevelt Island Racquet Club (RIRC) for a night of round robin doubles tennis. We will hold two sessions of 1h each of rotating play to give you an opportunity to play with a different set players.
