MTG – New Brand / Logo Contest!

One of our goals in 2012 is to continue to modernizing MTG’s “look” and aestethic with the purpose of making MTG more attractive and alluring to new members and anyone MTG does business with.  In 2011, we changed our “look” by revamping the website…in 2012 we will create, market and exploit a brand new logo!

Here is where all you immensely talented MTG-ers can play a part….

We are opening up the design of the logo to our entire membership at large by way of a contest.  Conjure up and create your own design.  If your design is selected as the winning design entry, you will receive a free trip to one MTG Total Tennis in December 2012, one free entry into the Marsha Day 2012 and Liberty Open 2012 tournaments!  (All prizes are non-transferrable and must be redeemed this calendar year.)

Now is the time to let those creative juices flow and help shape the future image of our group!

All entries will be reviewed by the Board.  The top three designs (as voted upon by the Board) will then be offered up to the membership at large for a vote.  The winning design will be announced at our Annual “Membership” party on May 19th.

Deadline for submission of all design work :               March 31, 2012

Deadline for MTG Board to select the final 3 designs:    April 15, 2012

Deadline for the “All Member” vote to determine the winning design:                                                                April 30, 2012

    Winner Announced:                                                         May 19, 2012

All submissions must be received by Daniel Arzuaga via e-mail (arzuaga_daniel@yahoo.com) no later than 12 Midnight on March 31st.  (*In the interests of propriety, current MTG Board Members are precluded from entering the design contest.)

Good luck everyone!  Let’s make MTG shine brighter than ever with a new brand new look and and a brand new feel!

Looking to improve your game/strategy, ground strokes, and more?  Look no further.  Join us for some terrific Drill & Play for levels 3.0 - 3.5.

    Instructor:
JASON SPEIRS, Tennis Director of RIRC

Space is LIMITED to FOURTEEN (14) players and is on a first come, first serve basis.

    How It Works:

A Roosevelt Island pro coordinates drills with six (6) players on one (1) court while on the next court four (4) players play doubles.  Players rotate from drills court to doubles court (details below):
    • Drills court: The drills court consists of practicing doubles strategy, volley/approach shots, king of the court, "sky ball," and other fun drills.
    • Doubles court: Four (4) players play doubles while the others do drills.  They will play four (4) games so that everyone gets a chance to serve once with no ad scoring.  Once the games are completed, the four (4) players are rotated back into the other court for drills while a new set of four (4) players play doubles.
    • The process repeats until the time allotted expires.  The selection of the doubles match ups is done at the discretion of the Roosevelt Island pro with consultation with the MTG Coordinator.
    • Tennis balls are provided by RIRC.

    • March 01, 2012
    • 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
    • Cubbyhole Bar 281 West 12th Street

An invitation to all MTG ladies (and boys) to come have a drink (or three) and help us recruit, grass roots style, more tennis playing women!  Last year we recruited numerous women who eventually became members of our group.  Several others also played at our summer tournaments.

The Cubbyhole will set up a table for us with balloons and decorations.  We will supply pamplets and written information on MTG. All attendees will talk to patrons and help relay first hand what a great group MTG is for women to come play tennis!

The Cubbyhole even supplies free pizza to help kick off the recruitment efforts.

This is a fun annual event that not only helps solidify the presence of women of our group, but also serves as a great forum for all our members to meet our tennis playing women and recruit many more. The Cubbyhole is also a fun rocking bar with great drink specials!

Please join us!  Contact Gina Colelli at ginacolelli@aol.com / 917.575.7668 or Daniel Arzuaga arzuaga_daniel@yahoo.com 646.417.0910 for more details.

Along the way we can drink, nosh and socialize not only with each other but with new prospective tennis playing men and women! Hopping back and forth bar to bar strongly encouraged!
