Players show up, create foursomes (with the help of the event coordinator, if needed), play a set then leave the court so another foursome can play. In between playing, the players eat, socialize and rearrange into different foursomes. (We keep a sign-up board to facilitate this.) Ideally, we'll have about 36 players for 6 courts, allowing flexibility for the "socializing" players to mix and match for upcoming sets, while also allowing each player to play a significant portion of the 4 hour session.
There is no need to ensure that you arrive right at the beginning (since only 24 can play at a time anyway), and no need to feel committed to staying the full 4 hours. Someone running late doesn't leave others playing Canadian Doubles.
A rater will be there to provide ratings for players who need them for the Marsha Day MTG Club Championships.
