2012 MTG Summer Ladder - Singles (May 20, 2012)

The MTG 2012 Summer Ladder Season is here!

Come and partake in one of MTG's most popular playing events! Great way to play singles matches, find new hitting partners and make friends along the way! All levels are welcome! beginners, intermediates, advanced....everybody come on board!

The summer ladder will run from May 20, 2012 - September 3 , 2012. There is a $10 registration fee. Upon receipt of your fees, you will be registered on our itennisladder.com software program, which you will employ during the course of the summer to record and tally your matches and ranking points. Matches can be played anytime of day or night at any outdoor court of your choosing.

You must be a current MTG member to play the 2012 Summer Ladder. Registrants are responsible for arranging their own matches. Three matches per week maximum. There will be a round robin playoff at the end of the season featuring the top 8 players (after September 3rd). Semifinal and final matches will be held thereafter with a winner crowned in mid-October.

Payam Mazidi is the current defending 2011 Summer Ladder champion.

Obtaining a NYC parks permit pass is highly recommended. The cost is $200 for the full season permit or $15 for one time play passes. Permits/ tickets available at Paragon Sports or on line at http://www.nycgovparks.org/permits/tennis-permits

Hoboken/Jersey City Tennis - (All Playing Levels) - Drill N Play I (May 20, 2012)

MTG's first event in New Jersey! We will be playing on the outdoor hard courts of Stevens Technical Institute, which boast spectacular views of the Hudson! Steve Gachko, head of the Stevens Tech tennis team will be our instructor

This inaugural event will feature on court drills and game play orchestrated by Mr. Gachko, a USTA certified tennis instructor. Format will be adapted according to the skill level and needs of the group that registers. We will divide into two groups...one for less experienced players and one for advanced players.

Come play tennis and have fun with your fellow NJ based MTG-ers! If this maiden voyage successful, we will continue the instruction at these courts throughout the summer!

Red Clay Classic II - Fundraiser For Green Outlook Initiative (June 02, 2012)

Our first red clay event was a huge success...let's do it again!

April & May is red clay season for the ATP & WTA professional tennis players...and now it's red clay time for MTG players as well!

This event is for all levels of play. Beginners, intermediate and advance players are welcome. As with our Matthew Shepard fundraiser, this will be a round robin event. The emphasis will be on social tennis and civic camaraderie. No competition per se... just fun tennis for a good cause!

A light continental style breakfast will be served beforehand. No NYC permits required for playing this event.

Playing format to be determined based on how many people register to play. All proceeds will go to Green Outlook, a green campaign initiative that will help make Riverside Park (and the area surrounding the clay courts) more beautiful and ecofriendly.

2012 Ladderpalooza I (June 16, 2012)

Ladderpalooza returns! This event is open only to MTG members who are currently registered for the 2012 Summer Ladder. All participants must also have a 2012 NYC tennis permit or a day pass to participate.

Come to Mill Pond on Saturday, June 2nd (rain date June 3rd). to play your pre-arranged ladder matches, All you need to do is show up....we will arrange the matches for you! Two matches guaranteed! If time permits (and your strength endures) a third match is possible! All ladder rules apply.Format limited to pro-sets or best of three (3rd set tiebreak).

Light, very informal continental breakfast will be served beforehand!

Liberty Open 2012 (June 30, 2012)

Each July 4th holiday, MTG and New York City draws players from all across the country and abroad to participate in The Liberty Open.

The Liberty Open is a tournament of the Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance (GLTA) circuit which manages and sanctions an international coalition of tennis tournaments.

The Liberty Open offers extensive divisions of competition, proudly including a full complement of women’s and mixed doubles events.
